I just finished reading the Dear Princess blog and all I’ve been saying is ” I just can’t wrap my mind around this” “THIS is what girls my age were taught ?” “THIS is why I spent the majority of my life from age 10 being ostracized ???????” ” HOW CAN THESE PEOPLE LIVE WITH THEMSELVES ?????” I have spent years asking why and no one would tell me. Obviously the reason I was never given an answer was because they feared the explosion that would follow as well as having to confront themselves with why they were allowing and encouraging it to happen. While we are no longer a part of the Mennonite church we still live within a Mennonite community. and people still dont know how to respond to me!! But at least now I can identify what the issue is and what they are afraid of. I hope you continue doing this blog because its so helpful in understanding EXACTLY what Conservative Mennonites have absorbed and are teaching their young. I started wondering today if anyone is tallying the “accidental deaths” of young people (and older ones)within the Mennonite community and the possibility that many of them might be suicides that were covered up.
